When I see people, especially families with children, drinking fresh juices, my heart opens. The increasing number of juices on the menus of restaurants and cafés always brings a smile to my face.

The trend is clearly towards juicing and it seems that people always jump on this train. The fact that many of the self-pressed juices are not ideal or are not consumed in the best possible way does not fail to materialize.

In the following lines I will describe the 8 most common juicing errors that I have observed in my environment over the past few months.

And more importantly, I’ll tell you what you can do to avoid these mistakes and benefit even more from juicing in the future.

I get tons of questions every day asking me about all kinds of juicing mistake related items like:

Can you get sick from juicing?

Can you live on just juicing?

What vegetables should not be juiced?

What’s wrong with juicing?

What’s wrong with juicing?

What vegetables should not be juiced?

What should you not do while juicing?

Can you gain weight from juicing?

This is why I decided to clear up common juicing mistakes and what to instead with this blog post. Let’s get started.

Juicing Mistake 1 – Let The Juices Stand Too Long

Once your juice is ready, you shouldn’t waste any time and drink it as soon as possible.

Valuable enzymes are destroyed by contact with the air. This process of oxidation is explained in more detail in the article Shelf Life of Homemade Juices.

It’s best to drink fresh
If the whole thing is too scientific for you, you can simply drink a juice right after juicing, and let’s drink the same juice an hour later. You will notice a difference that will surprise you.

Because the enzymes in fresh juice immediately give the body an energy boost. How long you can keep the juice in an emergency depends on your juicer. Juices made with cheap centrifuge juicers must be drunk immediately after making them.

If you use a juicer or a juicer with a very low speed, you can also store the juice in the fridge for 24 hours.

In this case, however, you should use an air-tight container and fill it to the brim. Because any unnecessary contact with the air reduces the quality of the juice.

Juicing Mistake 2 – Do not Drink the Juice on an Empty Stomach

Juices are not a dessert, but a vitamin and mineral bomb. Early morning with an empty stomach is the best time to drink your fresh juice. Because in this state your body can absorb the juice best.

The important nutrients get directly into the bloodstream and supply your body with everything it needs for a long day. The cleaning process, which is favored by drinking homemade juices, also works best in this state. Wait 20 minutes for breakfast to get the best results.

It looks different if you consume the juice after a meal. In this state, your body is still busy digesting the food and, in the worst case, the juice becomes an extra burden.

Therefore, always drink your juice on an empty stomach. If you can’t drink the juice after getting up, you should always wait 2 hours after a meal.

Juicing Mistake 3 – Eat Green Juices as a Meal

Green juices have a variety of vitamins, minerals and enzymes that are very important for your body.

By drinking juices, your body can absorb these nutrients particularly well. This is mainly because there are many nutrients that are not contained in juices. But are also absolutely necessary. Juices cannot replace meals and should be seen as more of a way to meet some of your daily vitamins and minerals needs.

The best thing to do is to take the juices about 20 minutes before a meal. The only exceptions are if you are fasting, i.e. doing a juice cleanse, or just eating the juice as a snack in between. Juices cannot replace real meals.

Juicing Mistake 4 – Juice too Many Sweet Fruits and Vegetables

This point is very dependent on the shape of your body. If one of your goals is to lose weight through juicing, then it is clear that your body is not working properly in its current state and you are eating more than your body can use.

In this case, you should avoid adding too many sweet fruits and vegetables to your juice. These include watermelon, apples and carrots. Thin or normal weight people can break down the fructose that is contained in these fruit juices before it accumulates in the body in the form of fat and affects the liver.

For people who always struggle with weight gain, things look different. At this point it is advisable to add only one sweet ingredient and to make the rest of the juice with vegetables. If you don’t like the taste of green juices so much, you can add a lemon.

To a large extent, the taste is only a matter of the head. Tell your head that the juice is the best thing your body can consume, and you’ll quickly find green juices appealing.

Juicing Mistake 5 – Do Not Chew the Juice

This point was completely unconscious to me for a long time and is still considered one of the greatest secrets to this day. It is actually quite logical.

Before you swallow your juice, you should push it around a bit in your mouth and try to chew. By chewing, your body will automatically produce saliva, which contains enzymes necessary for digestion. As a result, your body can absorb the juice even faster and better.

Juicing Mistake 6 – Do not clean the juicer properly
For many people, cleaning the juicer is the big catch on the whole story. Especially since cleaning, depending on the model, can take some time.

However, this is absolutely necessary to continue enjoying healthy juices in the future. The easiest way is to clean the juicer immediately after use.

If you wait a few hours to clean it, it may take twice as long. This can quickly rob you of the fun of juicing.

Expert tip: Put your fruit and vegetables in water with detergent the evening before, so that you can start juicing the next morning.

Juicing Mistake 7 – Juice Spinach and Kale again and again

Spinach and kale are considered to be one of the healthiest green vegetables. However, these two vegetables also have two clear disadvantages. For one thing, many people simply don’t like them. Personally, I have already been able to convince myself that I like these two ingredients.

However, not everyone succeeds and they run the risk of losing the joy of juicing in the long run if they have to choke the juice more or less. Therefore, always change the ingredients.

The second problem, much more a luxury problem, is that each vegetable has its own nutrient composition. Spinach and kale are the best ingredients if you have to commit.

You do not have to! Balance is the key to success here too, so it is advisable to use different ingredients every now and then. Swiss chard, cabbage leaves, dandelions and arugula also have many important nutrients.

Juicing Mistake 8 – Ignoring Balance

So many people just throw all their favorites in the juicer and expect the result to be delicious, and are surprised when it is overwhelming. There’s just too much bold taste. The trick in making delicious juice is to remember to add a vegetable that weakens and refines the other flavors; Watery vegetables work best for this purpose, so add foods like cucumber and celery that dilute the effects of the other ingredients.

Here you have it 8 Juicing Mistakes and what you can do to prevent them.

I hope you learned some new and interesting tips about how to do juicing the right way.

Hopefully, these 8 Juicing mistakes will help you out for the next time when you utilize your juicer.
