11. Turkey Nibbler with Leftovers from Thanksgiving

Turkey Nibbler with Leftovers from Thanksgiving

What a great way to use good leftovers from the Thanksgiving feast into some love for kitty! Using a dehydrator makes this task an easy one. Adjust the drying time to suit your unit. You can still produce some awesome terrific jerky treats using a conventional oven. The key to success lies in keeping a close eye on the meat during the process.

Ingredients:

dark turkey meat stips, thinly sliced

Directions:

Pre-heat your oven to 300 degrees and spray your cookie sheet with non stick spray.

Spray a cookie sheet with non-stick spray.

Remove the skin and fat from turkey meat.

Cut the turkey meat into ½ to 1inch slices with a very sharp knife.

Finally, place the turkey strips on the baking sheet and place into 300-degree oven.

Keep the turkey in the oven for about three hours.

Regularly keep checking your oven so the meat does not burn or char.

This process will result in natural shrinkage of the meat into jerky.

After about 2 ½ to 3 hours, turn off your oven and leave the turkey inside to cool it.

The turkey will keep continuing to dry inside the oven.

Keep the strips in the oven for six to eight hours. They need to be completely dry and cool.

After the cooling period, place the turkey strips in an air tight dish. You can even keep them fresh longer by placing it in your freezer.

Take out the amount of treats you need and keep the rest frozen. This will provide you with a nice stock of treats whenever your cat deserves a Jerky treat.

Place the turkey meat and the chopped carrots in a food processor and combine until the mixture is smooth.

Add the ground quinoa or oatmeal and mix until combined.

Roll the mixture into small 1-inch balls or even smaller once depending on your cat’s weight.

Place on a non-stick cooking sheet into the oven.

Bake the medaillons for approximately 15 minutes.
